Kyoto is one of the oldest and most beautiful regions in Japan. If you want to know about the traditional Japanese style of building, food, or culture, you can go visit Kyoto. Unlike the crowded cities like Osaka and Tokyo, Kyoto is an area with old houses, friendly people, traditional designs, and the mix of old and new culture.

During the trip in Kyoto, you can visit the following places.

Fushimi Inari Shrine (伏見稲荷大社,

Fushimi Inari Taisha)

Kinkakuji(金閣寺,Golden Pavilion)

Ginkakuji (銀閣寺,Silver Pavilion)

Kiyomizudera Temple(清水寺,"Pure Water Temple")

It is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. It is most famous for its wooden stage. The renovation is planned to finish in 2020. Even though the stage is not open, it is still famous for tourists to visit.

Arashiyama (嵐山)

It is a district in the western outskirts of Kyoto. When you visit Arashiyama, you can go to the Togetsukyo Bridge, Bamboo Groves and many other temples.

Nijo Castle (二条城, Nijojo)

It was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Edo Period.

Kyoto Tower (京都タワー)

It is Kyoto's tallest structure and a rare modern iconic landmark. You can go on the tower to see the whole view of Kyoto.

Amanohashidate (天橋立)

This is a famous site to visit in Japan. You can go there by tourist bus or by train. It is famous that if you view it through your legs, you can see a dragon.

Miyama (美山)

When you go to Kyoto, you can take a day trip to Amanohashidate and Miyama. It is an old town with traditional cottages. It is a little far away from the city, so it takes a longer time to get there.

This video introduce Kyoto and the place you can go visit. I think you do not have to go to all the famous site, but just walk around the old street and enjoy the old city.

While traveling to Japan, you can take a few days in Kyoto. There are many UNESCO world heritage sites around this area. You can see the impressive view of the city and the old cultural and historical buildings while visiting. I will recommend you to visit Kyoto in spring or autumn, which you can see the red maple leaves or cherry blossoms and the climate is more comfortable.

In my trip, I take a day to visit Arashiyama, where the Togetsukyo Bridge, bamboo groves, and Tenryuji Temple are located. Also, you can go on the train that go alone the mountain.(Saga Scenic Railway)

Also, if you have a chance, just take the bus, or walk around the city. Hope you enjoy the trip in Kyoto.
